Sale at KB Toys

No pix, but I just found out that on their internet site KB Toys is selling silkstones for really cheap. Suite Retreat and Highland fling for $17.99 each. For that price, you could buy extras! Now, Suite Retreat is not a favorite of mine, but I love my Highland fling girl. ; ) I might get an extra myself!

Today I received some more sweaters that I won on ebay. AS you can see I have 3 happy Doltonites who will be snuggly warm this winter.
Today was a decent day, although cool. Just right for me
I shopped at WM and bought another ton of wool! Expect lots more colourful chairs to appear!
Not a lot on the toy shelves, except that Hannah Montana and few other no name dolls. Did you know that Hannah Montana is Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter? She changed her name.
Stopped at a TRU but not much there and prices are still high in that store. WM is cutting prices here to match with U.S. prices because of our high dollar. I think prices will come down even more as Xmas approaches. Only 2 months to go LOL
Bought some xmas stuff in our Dollarama. I am slowly gathering new items for this year's display. Still not finished my Halloween scene yet but most everyone is dressed. I will have two scenes this year.
Tomorrow we are leaving for Ottawa so you can expect me to be off line for a few days. I may be online at my sister-in-laws house to set her up on this blog. So I might post if there is anything interesting to say.
And if I have time later, will post on the Dolton blog here on google.
Have a good weekend everybody.

Indian Summer Day

As mentioned on the yahoo blog, I was able to go out and cut the lawn for the first time this summer. My foot is healing nicely and I can even play for a couple of hours at a time in Dolton. Walking any distance is still troublesome though, as I tend to have a heavy step and always walk at a quick pace. I learned that trying to keep up with others as I have such short legs LOL
Last night I watched "Grease" with John Travolta and ONJ. I have always wanted to set up a drive-in scene at Dolton Beach and this year, I thought would be the year that I could do it. Of course my plantar facitis and the extreme heat that we had all summer kept me from my plans. Even my friend Debbie was excited to come over and help set up the scene. Maybe I can create it up in Lofton which is partially torn apart at one end right now as Jack had to go up and thread the cable from our satellite dish through the roof instead of over the roof as it was originally done. No wonder we lost our connection as the wiring was worn right through from 8 years of weather exposure. Anyway now that area is all 'open' again, I will lay down some more plywood and expand Lofton even more! Soon I will have all the roof/attic taken over LOL Of course going up to there to clear out the area for Jack meant climbing the ladder which I was able to do now that my foot is much better so I can go up and down without worrying about it anymore. And the weather is cooler now so I can breathe up there. Of course my time is limited, once the real cold weather arrives I won't be able to go up there as it is not heated and can't or shouldn't be. There is insulation on the 'floor' of the attic but not in the rafter's, that is so they can breathe and why also it is very arid up there as it should be so the roof doesn't rot.
Well I've yammered enough. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend and remember take the time to smell the roses! *wink*

Here's Sandy and Sam modelling my latest ponchos. Sandy is peeved cos she wanted Sam's poncho! I think Sandy's is a bit too short for her. It will most likely go to a big skipper.

I went up to Mattel today but the shelves were empty! Literally! They were getting ready for the big sale starting on Tuesday. You know where I'm gonna be next week LOL

Today was an interesting day, dark gloomy, rainy, then gorgeous sunshine and very mild temps. Yep I'm back to wearing shorts and t-shirts! But storms blew in and out of the area all day long. The winds were so stiff, a lot of my dahlia plants just snapped! It sure was a strange day! Still I'll take it! I can't believe the warm weather we are having this late in October! I bet it snows next weekend tho' As we are going to Ottawa *ugh*
Hope you all have a good weekend everyone!
Congrats to Mel and Tom on their home ownership!

Latest Poncho and other news

Here's my latest poncho with the fringe. Ironically I had the varigated eyelash wool to match with this varigated wool. LOL This one is going in your package Yvonne. If you want a hat to go with this, just let me know.

I'm off to the farmer's market today for fresh eggs. I usually buy a flat which consists of 2.5 dozen. You can really taste the difference between these and store bought eggs. They are fresh to begin with and also this particular farmer uses free range organic hens. I might buy one of his chickens too. Although I'm kinda sick of poultry right now so soon after thanksgiving. We are still eating the soup that Jack made!

It's sunny today and not as cool as yesterday. Boy the winds were wild yesterday. This must be the year of the wind cos if you recall every time I talk about the weather here, I mention the strong winds. It's why we got so few storms (and rain) throughout the summer. I just hope it doesn't mean that we will get bitterly cold winds this winter! Now that I can't take!

Hope you are all relaxing and enjoying your Sunday. Catch you later.
BTW I have put another entry on my Health Blog

Chair fits 16" Dolls

Occassionally I make taller chairs (from kernel corn cans). They are usually made for the poser dolls who have longer legs and some of the AF guys. But today, (for some unknown reason) I tried a 16" gal on it and voila it fits!

Today is bitterly cold as I can feel the wind coming in the small opening of the windows. Yes I still have open windows and if you read my health blog yesterday, you would know why!! LOL Anyway I think fall is actually here. If the temps keep dropping it will soon be winter! Bring it on! LOL

Better get back to crocheting cos I think it's gonna be a cold night!

More Outfits from Ebay

Here's two lucky gals who got knit outfits from my ebay wins. Just in time too cos the temps here have dropped considerably. Last night we had to put the furnace on. It was down right cold outside! Today is nice though.

We have been without phone service for 30 hours! I was not a happy camper to say the least! The construction workers, yet again cut through our line. But ONLY ours! Seems we have a separate box from everyone else on the street! Duh! Of course we are not a priority so no one came until to day to hook us back up. They had to change the wiring and the two boxes underground. For years now I have been complaining that the box is not deep enough and sure enough these guys realized what I have been telling them. So they dug it much deeper and buried it good. Let's hope this doesn't happen again, I am really fed, as this is the 4th time in 3 years! Not to mention that I was in the middle of paying bills on line when we lost connection. Fortunately they were not due yesterday so I could repay them today.

Later we are going to Toronto for our last game of the season. There is one more game yet but we will be in Ottawa (yuck) and will miss it. I don't expect our team will make the playoffs this year. So that's it for football.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Fall Fashion Show @ Tim's Bar

Well I finally got my fashion show set up. It was held in Tim's Bar which is finally built in the same place as it is in my stories! You can see Tim on the lower shelf behind the bar.

Terry's Diner has been moved beside the bar, for now. It's not in the proper place but it filled the empty spot I had there.

The guy's sweaters and trousers were made by my friend Maureen who lives in Buffalo NY. She sells on ebay under the name of Favourite Things. She does a great job as you can see.

Chairs-Cans in Assembly

As a bonus from moving stuff around in Lofton, I found a large piece of cardboard to make the backing for my chairs. I add this for two reasons; 1 because the edges are sharp and I don't want anyone (us, kids or pets) to get cut handling the chairs, and 2 because it gives the chairs more shape. When I first started making these chairs (over 20 years ago) I did not add the cardboard and the wool sagged over time. This way it keeps it taught (tense, tight, whatever) over the years.

In the picture you can see the scrap pieces of the cardboard which goes into into my compost so nothing is wasted. The cardboard is glued on with a glue gun. I have tried glue out of the bottle but it dries out and the cardboard comes loose. So the glue may cost more to use but it is worth it in the long run.

Again if any of you see a chair that you like, please let me know which one and I will send it to you. Not only do I enjoy making these chairs, it also gives me exercise! Exercise? While crocheting each circle I ride 4 miles on my stationary bike. So each chair takes me 16 miles! Another reason to keep making them LOL

Also whatever ponchos you like, please let me know and I will make them for your residents too. I am currently making boas for a change of pace inbetween the other projects. If anyone wants them I can insert them in the packages too. Remember New Year's is only 2.5 months away!
As most of you saw I also posted the cranberry chair on the yahoo blog. I did this so that those of you who have trouble on this site can see it also on the yahoo site.
I like this site because it sends notices to people when I/we post and we can see each other's post or you can reply to the post from your email (which others don't see). I know it is has taken some time to get used to this site so that is why I am still posting on yahoo also.
BTW when you go to the "Home" page on the yahoo site, you can click on the link to this site on Diane's blog. Anything in blue lettering like View Feed Entry and Doll Collectors Annonymous from Diane's blog, will take you directly to this google blog. From there you just sign in as prompted. If you don't have a google address, then you must sign in with your full email address. I hope this helps everyone.
Hope to see you all online, one place or another LOL

Look What I got today!

Today was another football game in Toronto. Jack had to do a service call downtown so I tagged along for the ride and went shopping *grin*

The Bay (Canada's oldest store) had a sale on B1G1Free. I found some Tommy outfits, skipper outfits and these two gals. Now my dilema is, should they become Doltonites? Or be cabinet dolls? What do you think? I'm going to post a poll. Please vote. I think you have to come onsite to do so.

The gals are Cinco de Mayo and Irish Dance Barbie. There was only "1" of each of them on the shelf. It was an omen to buy them I guess.

In Toronto there is an underground shopping area, that is about 3 miles long and I don't know how wide. But it encompasses, all the major hotels, many office towers and of course is is lined with shops and boutiques along the way. I was going to take the subway to the game and meet Jack there but I started to walk instead. While I was underground a horrific t-storm erupted over Toronto. The thunder was so loud that I could hear it in the underground. The rain came down in buckets. Jack called me on his cell and said he was on his way down to the game and would pick me up on the way. No way could I go out in the pouring rain and wait for him, so I continued to walk. I got to the end of the Underground (walking) before Jack arrived by car. The rain was so heavy that driving was next to impossible. By the time we met up, parked the van and headed to the game (we were late of course) the sun was coming out!

Well we won the game but when we got home 4 hours later, Mississauga hadn't got a drop of rain!
Note: you have to come to the blogsite to vote. The poll is at the bottom of the page, just scroll down. Thanks

New Ken Outfits

Well I was out and about today. Drove through 4 different cities, as we all border on each other. Stopped at a TRU in one of the cities and found these new Ken outfits. Never seen them anywhere else, yet. There are two more outfits in the series, but for $7. an outfit I only bought two. I sure hope they come down in price cos I really like the shirt in the brown set. What is also nice is the sleeves and trousers are long enough that they also fit the poser dolls!

It's as hot as a summer day here! Ugh! Guess I shouldn't complain eh, winter will be here soon enough. But wait...I like winter LOL

T.G.I.F. everybody

Doulton not Dolton

Here in Mississauga there is a street called Doulton Drive. It's not far from where I live. There was a murder there a couple of days ago, but I wanted to show you the house where this event took place.

Things

No pic today, just had a lot of ideas running through my head.
More sweaters arrived today from my ebay wins. Still have more to come, so my impending fashion show will be next week, I expect.
All my medical tests (both upper and lower G.I., ultrasound and pelvic exams came back normal). Looks like I'll live a while longer LOL
Took a long gander in a mall after my docs appointment and came up with several ideas for things. Now to implement them LOL Found a few more items for my Halloween scene which I better get cracking at setting up.
Oh and I posted another long (yawn), informative (hopefully) , message on my health blog. Please take a look and take the time to read it. Some interesting facts there.
Indian Summer is still with us although the nights are somewhat cool, it makes for great sleeping! Days are getting shorter though as today's daylight will be slightly less than 12 hours! Time to take the extra vitamin D
Oh I had something else to tell you but it has slipped through my memory blocks, it will come back to me later, right after I hit the post button LOL
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone, I'm off to play!
AHA I knew it would come to me. Check out the Dolton blog, for even more ponchos LOL I am making about 4 a day now, what with the cooler weather and all, my dollies need to be kept warm. If you see any that you like (and desire) please let me know and I will include them in your packages. Which btw did not get mailed today! Chairs weren't finished! LOL

Chair of the day

Here's my latest chair. It's actually a marigold in colour but since it is night time and the light in the dining room is not very bright, it looks lt brown. This chair is going to Yvonne along with some ponchos. If you wish for a particular colour or combo of colours for chairs please let me know. I have tons of wool LOL
By the way I also posted on the health blog and the Dolton blog today. Please check them out.
